Saving my pennies for the November B&B sale for Mean Streets, Jackie Chan box, and The Last Picture Show 4k. What a month!

I’ll be doing the same. Sort of cheated with The Others because of the shipping. Mean Streets can’t arrive soon enough!

I bought the Bergman set (yikes) and 4k versions of After Hours, Blowout, Mildred Pierce, and Princess Bride. This may have been too much.

The Bergman set is sublime, and the time to get it is during a flash sale. Congrats! Of all those, I really enjoyed the 4K of After Hours.

I got the bruce lee box, dreams 4k, and Judex. I was going to get the Dietrich & von Sternberg set instead of bruce lee but it wasn't in stock so probably go for that next sale.

Highly recommend the Dietrich/Sternberg set someday. It’s among the best sets in the collection imo. I’m due to rewatch Judex.

I appreciate the brief discussion of the Eclipse Series, which I agree is "over and done" at this point in time. They had a great run and I still wish they had extended it to a nice round number of 50 sets. They ended it with box #46, and as it stands, they started with one Bergman (Ingmar) and ended with another (Ingrid) so that's some fine symmetry.

As much as I enjoy the Criterion Channel and find it an acceptable alternative to new Eclipse Series editions, there's still something wonderful about getting the films on disc, in a discreet, thematically unified package, with liner notes and all that, an experience that streaming can't quite replicate.

As someone with peak WG1WP (White Guy 1st World Problems) I never get to experience these half-off sales as I stay current at all times. I've come up with a "solution" so I can join you all when the excitement happens: I'm going to hold off on 4K upgrades of films I already have until the sales. Ain't I just a genius? Next up: Climate Change.

My flash sale box just arrived. I got all the new spine numbers that Criterion released since Dim Sum (except for the Widerberg set which I already had received as a review copy). So I'm "spine # complete" again. I also got the 4K of The Seventh Seal as I'm doing some selective upgrades to best format versions. Still haven't taken the plunge on the Janus Contemporaries line, but I'm thinking EO would be the first one I get just because I love that soundtrack so much. Now time to scrimp and save for the B&N sale in November!
